By 1974, magic had lost its mass appeal until a skinny, bucktoothed kid from Winnipeg became an overnight star in an unlikely Broadway musical called The Magic Show. Doug Henning, with his refreshingly modern approach to the art of illusion, permanently changed the face of magic and reintroduced an entire generation of audiences to grand illusion as a theatrical art.
Taken direct off Beta recordings (the Beta format was always superior quality to VHS) these first generation copies offer maximum picture and sound quality…..excellent rating broadcast quality 8.5 out of 10.

Fame present Doug's Motorcycle Transposition New York is the Theme of the Show The New York Firehouse Illusion and Routine with Doug's appearance from a fire Hoop and his subsequent production of the world's hottest dancer Ann Reinking! Next Ann enters the Lady to Lion Cage and is transformed into not a lion but a Dalmatian Dog! Close-up Magic in a Central Park Set. Doug performs the Rubicks Cube Trick and then his Chop Cup Routine.
To finish off the Close-up Central Park Theme section of the show, Doug performs Andre Kole's Vanishing Feet Illusion! Next we meet Andrea McArdle the 1st Annie from the Broadway Musical Annie. Doug performs his Giant Genii Tube Slide Illusion and shrinks Andrea into the 1982 Annie lead Allison Smith! Leaving Central Park Doug uses the Elevator Illusion to produce Tony Randall and performs a Farmer and Witch routine with Tony and Carol! Next up is Doug's famous Mystery of the Egyptian Pharoe Statue! Now Doug and Ann Reinking present Okito's Floating Ball Illusion. Off they go to the Plaza Hotel as Doug once again uses his Water/Lighter than Air Illusion to float Ann Reinking.
Debbie Henning now performs the Girl without a Middle Illusion with Doug as the victim. Next up is Anita Morris from the Magic Show (Doug's Original Hit Broadway Show).
